LEWA'S STORY
Lewa Studios was founded in January 2023 by sisters Zainab and Kadijat Ajayi, born from a shared passion for hair care, creativity, and community.
Growing up, our earliest salon memories weren’t just about hairstyles — they were about care. We remember the feeling of sitting in a chair where someone genuinely cared about the health of our hair and its growth, not just the final look. Over the years, we watched that value fade as more salons became focused on quick styles rather than true hair care. It left us longing for a space that celebrated Black hair in all its forms, while protecting and nurturing it at the same time.
Lewa — taken from the word Arewa, meaning beauty or beautiful person — was created to bring that care back. We began as an e-commerce hair brand, providing raw and virgin wigs and bundles to clients worldwide. In 2024, we expanded into our first physical salon in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter, creating a space where clients could not only style their crowns, but also feel supported, seen, and part of a community.
Today, Lewa is more than a brand — it’s a hub for Black beauty and culture. Our vision is to build a global platform that celebrates individuality, protects natural hair, and empowers professionals to thrive.
As one Treasury Analyst and one professional hairstylist turned business owners, we bring together hands-on expertise, strategy, and lived experience. Every service, product, and project reflects our belief that beauty is about more than appearance — it’s about health, identity, and confidence.
